Line charts plot a specific output. (Compare that to bar charts that plot four outputs: OHLC.)
The line connects successive values of that output. The Price parameter determines which value is used. There are almost twenty values to choose from. The default is close. The value you choose may be determined by activity in a particular contract.
This chart type may appeal to those who want to use the change in a particular value as a determinant for trading decisions. Line charts can also be used for markets with little activity. Gaps are filled in with a dotted line for a smoother display.
