Identify when and how you should be notified of events relating to your orders. To open these preferences, click the Setup button and then click Trading Preferences.
Before setting preferences, choose whether the settings should apply to all accounts or to a particular account using the drop-down menu:
To limit notifications, you can choose to receive messages only for your accounts.
Order actions include order-related messages, sounds, fills, and blinking backgrounds on trading interfaces. For example, if you select only order actions associated with your accounts, then you won’t hear sounds for other order actions.
Default settings do not overwrite settings you select for a specific account or instrument.

Confirm |
Choose whether to receive confirmation messages before you place, cancel, modify, and park orders. You do not have the option of turning off notifications for Order Desk or Split Quote Board. You can change the confirmation window in two ways: •Displaying Account Picker gives you the option of changing the account directly on the confirmation window before you complete the order action. •Enabling editing allows you to change the order size and price on the window before completing the action. |

Description |
Confirm |
Select the confirm check boxes to receive confirmation messages for the listed situations. If confirmations for placing, cancelling, modifying, and parking orders is turned on, then the notifications check boxes on smart order preference windows are automatically turned on and inactive. Note: In rare cases, it may be necessary for the system to change order duration to DAY. For example, a LMT order placed with a FAK duration. The system may allow the order, but the duration is changed. In those unusual cases, you receive a confirmation message even when confirmations are turned off. |
Popups |
Select check boxes to receive notification when orders are filled or partially filled and when an order hasn’t been acknowledged or filled in a certain amount of time. When an order is filled or partially filled, the Fill Report window serves as the notification. Rejected orders result in a warning displayed in Message Center. Other warning messages may be generated from the trading gateway or by another part of the system. The list of possible warnings is too long to document, but examples include “Ticked at n but order not filled” or “Compound order chain is about to be cancelled.” To eliminate warning message notifications, unselect the warning message check box. |
Change Trading Interface Background Color |
Changing the background color of the trading application is another way to be notified of order-related activity. You can be notified when an order is filled or partially filled by blinking, highlighting, or both. A highlight is an uninterrupted color change that lasts some number of seconds. If you choose both blink and highlight, then the highlight follows the blink. Working orders can be identified with a solid background color change. The system uses the Buy and Sell colors (Trading Display preferences). In this image, there are both buy and sell working orders.
In the case of working orders for strategies, both colors are displayed: |
Sounds |
